At our October 2017 meeting, our scheduled speaker was unable to make the meeting, so Round Table member Michael Bouchette stepped in and gave the group a talk on the sinking of the Mississippi River side-wheel steamboat Saltana on April 27, 1865, taking the lives of over 1,800 persons, mostly Union officers and enlisted soldiers returning home from the war.

GAR Marker at Evergreen Cemetery with original flag pole placed their in 1885 by members of the Manitowoc Grand Army of the Republic. The original flag pole with replaced with a new 25 foot pole by the Manitowoc County Civil War Round Table when the old flag pole became unusable.
